Anti-Trafficking Campaign – 30th July, 2023

INVISIBLE-CHILD

‘Invisible-Child’ is every child standing beyond the last child.

As such present, but not on the radar of the Government, Stakeholders and Policy-Makers. They include (but are not restricted to) children of brick-kiln workers, construction workers, child bondage labour, commercial sex workers, third gender and transgender children, children with mental disorders, children into commercial sex as customary practice and trade, children of migrant workers and victims of child marriage. Children residing in the bordering districts and bordering states of India. It also includes children from marginalized communities such as Musahars, Nats, Valmiki and Puroik and others.

These children need planned, sustained, multi-faceted and focused interventions by the governmental agencies and civil society. It is imperative to help them rise out of their current status rooted in intergenerational deprivation, abuse, and discrimination. It will not be sufficient to call them “Child in Need of Care and Protection” as provided under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

The term ‘Invisible-Child’ coined by Mr. Shashank Shekhar

Founding Director, Ace Advocates (OPC) Pvt. Ltd. &
Founding Member, Centre for Research and Advocacy for Child Rights & Persons with Disability. (CRACR&PD)

I have learnt of CRACR & PD, a Trust established by Shri Shashank Shekhar, Advocate, Supreme Court, and Child Rights Activist with two others in May 2019. The Trust is working for enforcing Child Rights and for helping Persons with Disability. The Trust even during short span of its birth has been able to make an impression for itself as it strictly follows the rules, maintains high ethical standards and thereby earned credibility by providing timely assistance to children, disabled persons.

CRACR & PD has done remarkable work ever since its inception. Their kindness, honesty. and dedication are inspirational. The concept of ‘invisible- child’ is an honest effort at making the lives of the marginalized and under-privileged children and persons with disability better. The organization strives to give them a chance to stand at par with the mainstream in terms of opportunities and conditions of living.
My best wishes are with the team and their phenomenal vision.
