Inara – Ray of Light
Overview
Inara is an Art & Design Hub for children and youth from marginalized communities, developed by Sambhavna-CRACR & PD with support from the Indian Army. This space fosters skill-building and cultural expression, aiming to build resilience and mental well-being in the youth of Kashmir, who have faced long-standing challenges due to regional unrest. Inara operates from Chattabal Garrison, Srinagar.
Why Inara?
The program goes beyond market-driven skill training by addressing mental health and building resilience. Kashmir’s history of unrest has led to widespread psychological challenges, impacting child development. Inara’s creative environment helps youth process emotions, gain mental resilience, and develop an appreciation for art, critical thinking, and creativity.
Program Scope and Courses
The The program serves youth aged 15-21 years from rural and urban areas, beginning in Srinagar and planning outreach to other districts in later phases. Inara offers courses in:

Inara also integrates digital tools and technology to develop skills in graphic design, animation, multimedia art, and coding, enhancing digital literacy and opening new creative avenues.
Program Structure

- Phase A: Participants start with all five courses. After one month, they choose two for focused training, with digital literacy, spoken English, and theatre as mandatory elements. By the end of six months, participants showcase their skills at state and national levels.
- Phase B: Following a winter break, participants receive career counseling and select one course for advanced training, leading to paid internships or job placements.

- Local Expertise and Child-Friendly Training: A board of experts will guide program design and monitor progress. Local trainers receive orientation and regular review, covering child rights and adolescent development.
